Mouse Test
To test your mouse, point at the test box and press every button: left, right, middle and the two side buttons. Each one lights up when the browser detects it. Click slowly to check for double clicks: two presses closer than about 80 ms are flagged. Then scroll the wheel both ways and check the counts.

How it works
Point at the grey box and use your mouse there. The page reads your browser’s mouse events and never sends them anywhere.
These tests need JavaScript. The explanations below work without it.
Made for a real mouse. On a phone or tablet, only the click speed test works with touch. In Firefox and Safari a side button may still go back a page; the page tries to stop that.
Mouse button & double-click test
Click, hold and press every button here
Your side button tried to go back or forward. The page stopped it.
Gaps between presses of the same button (red = suspected double click)
Checking your whole setup? Test your headphones and microphone too.
Scroll wheel test
Scroll here. The page will not move while the pointer is in this box.
Polling rate test
After pressing Start, move the mouse in fast circles here
How to do it
- Point at the grey test box.
- Press the left, right and middle buttons, then both side buttons, and check each lights up.
- Click slowly about 20 times and look for red gaps under the double-click threshold.
- Scroll up, down and sideways in the scroll box and check the counts.
- Press Start in the polling rate test and move the mouse in circles.
What each part tells you
- Buttons: which of the five buttons your browser receives, how many presses and how long you held each one.
- Double clicks: the time between two presses of the same button. A gap far shorter than a human double click points to a worn switch.
- Scroll: steps up, down and sideways, and jumps in the wrong direction.
- Polling rate: roughly how many times per second the mouse reports its position.

Frequently asked questions
How do I test if my mouse is working?
Point at the test box and press each button. A working button lights up in the mouse picture and its counter goes up. Then scroll the wheel and move the mouse. If something does not respond, try another USB port or a fresh battery.
Why does my mouse double click when I click once?
Usually the switch under the button is worn or dirty, so its contacts bounce and send two clicks. A double-click speed set too slow in your system settings can also make normal clicks look like double clicks. The double click test shows which one it is.
How do I test the side buttons on my mouse?
Press the back and forward side buttons while the pointer is over the test box. They show up as buttons 4 and 5. The page tries to stop the browser from going back a page, but Firefox and Safari sometimes still do.
Can I test a mouse without installing anything?
Yes. Everything on this page runs in your browser from the normal mouse events, so there is nothing to download or install. It works on Windows, Mac, Linux and ChromeOS in any modern browser.
Does this mouse test send any data?
No. All counting and timing happens in your browser. No clicks, movements or results are sent to a server. The only thing stored is your best click speed score, kept in your own browser on this device.
Why does right click not open a menu here?
The test box blocks the context menu so you can test the right button freely. Outside the box, right click works as normal. The same applies to the middle button, which would otherwise start autoscroll.
